Research on Students' BMI
Assalamuaaliakum Readers,
We are here to post on SMLK students' Body Mass Index (BMI). For your information, BMI is a number calculated from a person's weight and height. BMI provides a reliable indicator of body fatness for most people and is used to screen for weight categories that may lead to health problems. The following is the BMI scale that we referred to:
As we realise that some students of our school are unfit, therefore, we decided to interview a number of our peers from all levels. We interviewed 30 random students from every level. As a result, we managed to interview 150 students altogether. We started doing our research on the 1st October 2011.
From the data we collected, we found the following results.
48% of the students are in Underweight category, 26% of students are in Normal category, and the most worrying stages which are 'Obese' and 'Very Obese' are 9% and 5% respectively.
Here are some pictures of students that we interviewed in our research.

What We Should Do Before Exercising
Assalamualaikum readers,
We want to show you guys what we should do before exercising. Many people think that warm up is not important to do before exercising. However, it is very essential because it prevents us from getting injured.
Warm up raises total body temperature and muscle temperature to prepare our body for vigorous activities such as hiking, cycling, playing badminton, and so on. Warm up session also prepares our heart from sudden pressure and increases blood circulation so they are able to accept the demands of these heavy exercises.
Here are some steps on how to do warm up.

ANTI-SMOKING CORNER
Today, our group went to all Year 8 classes led by our school counselor, Cikgu Nazrul, to set up an "Anti-smoking corner" in every class. Cikgu Nazrul gave the class monitors the "Anti-smoking corner" banner that we prepared to be pasted on the notice board of their classrooms. We decided to create the corner at the front of the classrooms as we want students to read information pasted on this corner every morning.
Cikgu Nazrul also handed over some leaflets on "How to stop smoking" and "The danger of smoking" to the monitors. The leaflets were then posted up on the "Anti-smoking corner" by the class monitors.
Here are the pictures of today's event.
and here are some pictures of the members who helped to do this work for today :)
